1) IT'S THE YEAR OF SOCIAL MEDIA FOR HVAC & PLUMBING SERVICE PROFESSIONALS
Home services businesses are becoming more curious and more interested in social media as they see the massive brand building opportunity by using these platforms.
Video content is quickly becoming recognized as the best way to present your brand online.
As social media continues to expand the horizons of small businesses, what we see happening over the next year is a greater effort to utilize the power of social.
What would you do for your business with the power of communication in your palm? There could be a huge audience of people in your hometown who share your interests and have a need for your services. Luckily social media when applied to your business as the potential for your customers to form a connection with you prior to reaching out.
The winners of 2019 will be those who maximize the Instagram platform, and learn how to create great content using its filters, hashtags and location capabilities.
2) CONSUMERS ARE LOOKING TO CONNECT WITH YOU, FAST!
Truth is, same or next day service is now the expectation. The sharing and app economy is influencing peoples buying behavior, and is more millennial‘s are purchasing their first homes, they expect to pull out their phone and get service on demand.
If your business isn’t leveraging both social media and search platforms to drive traffic to your brand then you’re making a big mistake.
The consensus is that if Amazon can complete your delivery within 24 hours, why can’t an HVAC technician or plumber deliver in the same amount of time?
This is the perspective that the home services professionals will need to adapt to, because the traditional method will not be tolerated by the new homeowners entering the market.
3) THE KEY IMPORTANCE OF RANKING ABOVE YOUR COMPETITION ON SEARCH PLATFORMS
As Google home and Amazon Alexa enter the households of hundreds of thousands of people we are seeing a differentiation between what people expect in quality and time.
The shift in how we pick a service professional to work with after searching online is creating a gap between professionals who are unlicensed contractors, middle or high end service professionals who are already licensed bonded and insured.
Many service businesses compete on price, however in 2018 we noticed very clearly that brand always wins. People don’t only buy for price point they also buy because you happen to be you.
Cheap is not always good. So how does a home services business convey the value they offer in the online space? They need to use the platforms to tell their story and relate to their customers in a human way.
Everyone needs to start working with the technology rather than against it, because it’s not going anywhere, and the potential to grow your business this year is massive.
4) A FOCUS ON REMARKETING TO EXISTING CUSTOMERS
Ever struggle with following up consistently? We often hear from new clients that when they get a call and perform the job, they don’t typically reach back out to that customer to see if they need more services. Our goal at cerebrum in 2019 is to help our clients keep in touch with their customers on a more regular basis. How do we do this? We train our clients how to better utilize the smart phone in their pocket.
5) INCREASING EFFICIENCY WITH CURRENT TECHNOLOGY
It’s easy to get comfortable using the same technology that you’ve been using for the past 10 to 20 years, isn’t it?
It’s stunning how many businesses have an embraced the breadth of new cloud technology available to us at a low expense. The truth is that change is hard, and if you’re used to using a software that you become comfortable with, the idea of changing to something new is a little scary to say the least.
I’ve personally noticed that a lot of the technology that establish companies are using are completely out of date yet most people in executive roles were afraid to change the technology or change how things are done.
Data suggests that we’re only a few years away from the workforce being A majority of millennial‘s who have grown up with the convenience of a smart phone. Every day that goes by Business owners are realizing that they can’t run their businesses without the help of automation and a smart phone.
The companies that succeed over the next 10 years will be the ones who are constantly looking for new opportunities to leverage technology, and at the same time keeping a finger on the pulse of what their clients want most.
The best observation of the present times this year mature guys and gals in the industry keeping an open mind about technology that can help them stay organized and efficient on the day-to-day. The issue is that although they see the value, they don’t understand the technology as well as their children or grandchildren. I know a lot of kids who message me needing help in their parents business and typically they have a lot of questions which is why we will soon be starting a podcast to help more business owners address these day-to-day concerns.
